The Exchange has acquired worldwide sales ahead of AFM to Firebrand’s action thriller Section Eight starring Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins and Ryan Kwanten.

Christian Sesma is currently directing the project from a screenplay by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway about of a former soldier who avenges the murder of his family and is sprung from prison and recruited by a shadowy government agency. Brandon Burrows of Firebrand produce.

“We are so very excited to add a great action movie like Section Eight to our line-up,” said Nat McCormick, EVP worldwide sales and distribution at The Exchange. “Dolph, Scott and Ryan are top-notch actors. We couldn’t hope for a better cast.”

Nope. The fairly last-minute additions of Scott Adkins and Dermot Mulroney makes it clear that they were added purely to attain more financing and distribution, thus roles were created for them and added to the film. I highly doubt ny of these stars will share any screentime together. And regarding Dermot Mulroney? I'm calling it now... He'll be playing the CIA agent who's shouting most of his lines about "Finding the missing file" or how "the CIA trumps all other agencies, and this is now their case." Should be fun.

‘Section 8,’ Action Film With Ryan Kwanten and Dolph Lundgren, Sells to AMC+ and RLJE Films (EXCLUSIVE)

“Section 8” has been acquired by AMC+ and RLJE Films, two business units of AMC Networks. The action film will debut in theaters and will start streaming on AMC+ on Sept. 23.

“We’re excited to work with the film’s all-star cast who are icons of action cinema,” said Mark Ward, chief acquisitions officer of RLJE Films. “Each of them has legions of fans and we’re excited to be able to bring ‘Section 8’ to them this fall.”

I figured as much as well. This one was shot so quickly with a few of the stars coming onboard when the film had basically finished shooting. It has a great cast, but let’s be honest, none of these stars are gonna share a scene together in the same shot.
